Solo exhibition of Juliana Mrvová named Travelogue represents a collection of the most important paintings, drawings and texts of the last five years which were created during residential stays and travels in Asia, Europe and America. During these travels, the author focussed on exploration of new worlds for the purposes of her paintings through her own exploration expeditions.

During the residential stays and travels, she explored landscape, its flora and fauna and met people who lived there. Later on, she constructed mental maps based on these micro-stories – paintings and drawings, and besides her own experiences, she also recorded her relationship to the given place. Works which were created in her studio after returning from the travels and which analyse the experience of these stays and experience of creating in a different environment are exhibited as well.

At the exhibition, you can see large-format paintings and drawings along with sketches and texts of diary character. Besides an interest in scientific drawing of plants, themes of narration and travelling are important as well. The drawings and paintings embrace an interest in ecology and social and cultural particularity of visited country or place. Naturally, the work also integrates concrete creative expressions of countries which influence the character of drawing and painting (e.g. in Mexico or India).

Spanish guest Gabriela Valls Schorr is a musician, graphic artist, pedagogue and traveller who has been long devoted to study of Indian miniature which she reworks by her own collage interpositions. Author spent a month of intensive collaboration and flatsharing in Indian Sohra with her in May 2016.
