Igor Piačka (born 1962), a graduate from the special graphic course with Prof. A.Brunovský, presents his paintings in Trnava. Collection of mostly large size paintings comes from the past ten years and the title Velvet Times aims to name the author´s long term artistic program dealing with aesthetics of beauty and its opposites. His painting is based on a brilliant drawing and inventive painting techniques where the realistic design of body is balanced with symbols of more expressive gestures. Igor Piačka is persistent in searching for answers to his questions, therefore his paintings present continuous revaluation of techniques that have already been proven. In his most recent paintings he likes to use creative play with interpretative shifts in order to unfold them into demandingly composed planes through his peculiar handwriting and figural accent. Painter knows that how much energy he puts in his paintings, so much energy he gets from them. But he does not want to bring energy in his paintings by force. He knows when to decelerate and he doses his inspiration with a deliberate harmony. For Igor Piačka, painting is an adventure that opens mysterious chambers hidden under layers of time.
