/The Collections of Gallery M. A. BAZOVSKÉHO inTrenčín/

Miloš Alexander Bazovský (born on 11.01.1899 in Turany nad Váhom, dec. on 15.12.1968 in Trenčín) is one of the most expressive and strong figures of the 20th century Slovak creative art.
Gallery of Miloš Alexander Bazovský (GMAB) in Trenčín (established in 1969) and Gallery of Ján Koniarek in Trnave have a common ambition of getting acquainted with significant personali-ties of the 20th century Slovak creative art via exchange of their permanent expositions.
The most extensive and significant part of the GMAB collection in Trenčín comprise the works of Miloš Alexander Bazovský (more than 1000 oil paintings, gouaches, temperas and
drawings). The most significant works of this collection are presented in the gallery in the master´s permanent exposition since 1979. From 16 June to 5 September 2010 this exposition, enriched with art works from collections of the Slovak National Gallery and the City of Bratislava Gallery, shall be installed in the Ján Koniarek Gallery in Trnava.
In his extensive creative work Miloš Alexander Bazovský brings a new and a breakthrough definition of Slovakia accentuating its specific balladic spirit, roughness as well as melancholy.
Brilliantly and without pathos or useless dramatic gestures, in an absolute crisp shortcut Bazovský characterizes Slovakia´s basic attributes and thus creates an archetype of Slovak country and its population. Through light silhouettes of figures and faces he primarily sketches spiritual aspects of human existence – sorrow, pain, nostalgia, tiredness or joy of living.

Miloš Alexander Bazovský - having graduated from the Prague Academy of Fine Arts in 1924 he came to Slovakia; first to his home town of Turany and later, in 1931, he moved to Martin where he lived and created till 1957. After a short stay in Černice he moved to Trenčianske Teplice in 1962 where he lived and worked till his death.
